Beds for Bolivia

 
Dr Janeth Mendoza is a missionary among her own people. For several years she has run a feeding program and health clinic in one of the poorest districts in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.  The district borders the river of the town, between the protection wall and the river banks; an entirely unprotected area where people have haphazardly built shacks of any kind and many of the families are ex-prostitutes and their children.  We came in contact with Dr Janeth In 2010, through a Brazilian church which helps with the feeding program already established there and when she expressed a desire to start a school help program the following year, we were keen to turn that contact into practical help.  
Many of these children spend hours on the streets,   trying to sell what ever pastry or food item their mothers make, or simply begging, to help their family make ends meet and are way behind in their schooling; Janeth's school program gives them the specific help they need to catch up and is also another means to bring to them the love of Jesus.  In August last year Dr Janeth told us that several of the children in our program were sleeping on the gravel floor of their huts and asked us if we had a way to help.  An appeal was made and sufficient money came in to buy beds for the children concerned.  We thank God for the faithfulness of His people in another 'special request' and for little children now sleeping in proper beds.  Thank God too for a lady like Dr Janeth who has such a heart for her own people.

CAN YOU CAN HELP?


Children like these all over Brazil and South America are in need of our help.  We are involved with projects that cover around 1,000 children, but many new calls are coming.  We have joined forces with a local church in Cordoba, Argentina, working with poor children there and have also moved into Santa Cruz, Bolivia,   There are two main ways that you can help us; a monthly donation of £15 (€20) to maintain one of the projects on a regular basis or; one-off gifts towards buildings and other needs.  As well as the regular newsletters, supporters receive news twice yearly from the project of their choice and the children there.
